Help Center Troubleshooting Why Isn’t My Signal Running?

How to Fix: No Results Found

If your Signal runs but shows “0 credits” in your Run History, it means ThreadSignals didn’t find any posts matching your keywords and groups during that run.

This doesn’t mean something’s broken—just that your Signal settings might be too narrow or there weren’t recent discussions matching your search.

Here’s how to troubleshoot and fix it.

1. Check Your Keywords

Overly specific or long-tail keywords are the most common reason a Signal finds no posts.
ThreadSignals prioritizes recent posts (usually within the last 24–72 hours) to keep your results relevant.
If no posts match your exact phrasing, it will attempt partial or smart matching—but if those still yield nothing, the run will complete with “0 credits used.”

How to fix it:

  • Use shorter, more common phrases (e.g., change “affordable website design for local startups” to “website design help”).

  • Add 1–2 additional keywords to widen your search.

  • Avoid overly long or specific keyword phrases—few users post with exact matches.

2. Review Your Group Selection

Even great keywords won’t work if they’re being searched in inactive or unrelated groups.
For instance, if you’re tracking “SEO help” inside a local subreddit that rarely discusses SEO, you may see “0 credits” even though broader groups mention it often.

How to fix it:

  • Add or replace groups with more active or larger communities.

  • Combine broad groups (for volume) with local or niche ones (for relevance).

  • Remember: smaller groups may not use your keywords frequently, so mix them strategically.

3. Check Your Credits

If your available credits are lower than your Signal’s max credits per run, the Signal will attempt to run but won’t be able to retrieve posts.

How to fix it:

  • Check your credit balance in the bottom-right corner of your dashboard.

  • Lower the max credits setting on your Signal or purchase additional 50-credit packs.

4. Verify Your Signal in Run History

When a Signal finishes running but shows 0 credits used, it means it completed successfully but found nothing that met your criteria.

How to fix it:

  • Go to the Run History tab to confirm.

  • If it shows “0 credits,” try:

    • Adding more or broader keywords.

    • Selecting different or additional groups.

    • Running the Signal again later once new posts are available.

5. Wait for New Posts

If you consistently see “0 credits” for a Signal, it’s usually a sign your keywords are too narrow or your groups too limited.

Start broader, run a few tests, and refine from there once you’re seeing consistent results.
